Googlemap addon goes live
February 3, 2008As of today my photoblog runs the latest development version of the Googlemap addon (click to see it in action). I’m pretty happy how it all has turned out considering the major overhaul of the code. There are some minor issues to be fixed like for instance the clustering method. Currently clustering is done based upon a limit of visible markers. When that limit has been reached the clustering stops. So sometimes a single marker appears nearby a cluster. Like Piotr mentioned it would be nicer to add that marker to the cluster as well.
Another thing is the latest picture. This marker really ought to be on top of all the other markers. Currently it is not, so I have to fix that. But there are also things working great: the new Lightbox approach over the interface (click on “click to view” in the sidebar if an image has coordinates), the improved adminpanel and the faster loading times.
I’m also happy with the new marker images:
.
They add some more distinction to the fact markers have been clustered in that area. The idea comes from this book, which has tons of information about the Google Map API.
I’m still not sure if I will ever make this addon public and I must say that the lack of responses at my last post are not pushing my mind in a different direction.
