Casing modifications

August 16, 2009

A couple years ago, 2005 to be exact, I bought my latest computer. It has been my trustworthy companion for almost 5 years now, but time hasn’t been kind to the hardware. With the increased Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom use it is getting harder each day to continue working despite several minor upgrades.

So I have decided to give my system an upgrade with a new motherboard, cpu, graphic card and memory. But since I’m not a big fan of the current casing I decided to use the casing I head for my computer before the current one. That casing is rock solid, but lacks some features that makes it workable for me.

First problem to tackle was the intake of the air, it was non-existent so I modified my casing a little bit to facilitate in a good airflow.

The next step will be the modification of the frontpanel so I can install a cardreader with USB in the spare 3.5. ” bay. There used to be a floppy drive there, but I haven’t found use for it in the last 6 years or so. The frontpanel contained a nice slot for a drive without a frontend so I need to make some room. Next up will be the addition of rackspace for the harddrives and such.
