Pixelpost addon: Googlemap
February 1, 2008It has been on my list for quite some time. One of my first addons, the GoogleMap addon needed a complete overhaul. The code was bloated, difficult to follow, hard to update and it had leftovers of things I tried in the past.
The addon is nearly finished, dropping nearly 100kb in total size. There are new markers for cluster images, the maps in the adminpanel will load automatically, the old clustering method has been dropped and replaced by a serverside clustering with an AJAX call to get the points. And the list goes on and on.
Another cool feature I’m trying out is the Mootools Lightbox approach for Googlemaps. I’m still working on it but I really wanted to show an example of how it looks:

However, I’m still wondering if I should release this version to the public. You wouldn’t believe the amount of hours I spend on this in the last three months and I’m not sure if I’m willing to give this thing away.
