Today: European EOS Discovery Tour
November 4, 2007Today I went to the Canon European EOS Discovery Tour in Utrecht. This is the first of three photography seminars I’ll attend in November. It was really an interesting day.
As mentioned earlier we got to try the new EOS 40D along with some collection of Canon’s EF lenses. This was really interesting, the EOS 40D is a really nice camera. Unfortunately, I couldn’t test it that long since there was actually a line of people waiting to try it.
The first session was basically an advertisement session for the EOS series. Canon showed some movieclips from photographers all over the world who explained various parts of the EOS system. After that there was a small workshop, given by Patricia Steur about portrait photography and various lightning conditions. She showed some of her work (available on the site as well) and did a hands-on-experience with shooting portraits. In this case she used her own model as well as one guy from the crowd, displaying various lightning techniques and the effect on the portrait.
I made some pictures with the camera in my mobile phone. They are not the best pictures (the camera is not all that good) but I post them here anyway.

The last workshop I attended was a workshop by Adobe, showing both Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop CS3. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough time to go into details, but nevertheless some useful information was discussed.

I was kind off amazed by the fact that most people never heard of Lightroom before. Furthermore, I found that I was probably one of the youngest to attend. Most people in attendance appeared to be at least in their forties/fifties.
