Geachte medeweggebruiker,

Het is u waarschijnlijk niet ontgaan dat de overheid al een aantal jaren campagne voert met betrekking tot een verantwoorde afstand tussen twee voertuigen. De kreet “Houd twee seconden afstand” heeft u ongetwijfeld een aantal keren gehoord of gezien.

Graag zou ik u hier nog een keer op willen wijzen. Ik begrijp dat u, om het noteren van uw kenteken te voorkomen, meent dat u de neus van uw auto zo dicht mogelijk op mijn achterbumper moet zetten. Daarnaast begrijp ik dat u elk gaatje tussen twee auto’s wilt benutten om lekker sportief zigzaggend uw auto door het verkeer te heen te drukken. Dit alles in de hoop een kleine tijdwinst te behalen. Stelt u zich eens voor dat u een paar minuten later thuis bent, een regelrechte nachtmerrie!

Ik hoop echt dat u na uw “ontspannende” autorit op de snelweg lekker genoten heeft van uw zondag.

Laatst schreef ik al over mijn ervaringen met Foto Konijnenberg. Toevallig kwam ik gisteravond weer wat tegen. Mijn teller van de camera is teruggezet. Terwijl ik in Lightroom wat dingen aan het bewerken was viel me ineens wat op. De laatste foto van de vakantie had als naam “IMG_2354.CR2″, de serie die ik net geïmporteerd had begon met “IMG_1602.CR2″.

Nu heb ik dus twee keer een serie van 1600-1710 op mijn pc staan. Aangezien ik graag mag weten wat er aan de hand is heb ik even wat zitten zoeken op het net. Ik kwam toen al snel deze post tegen van Rob Bernhard op het Canon EOS forum:

If you share the cards between different cameras, especially Canon cameras, the behavior will change. If Camera 1 has an image count of 0100 and Camera 2 has an image count of 0300, a card used first in Camera 2 (and then in Camera 1) will cause the image count from Camera 1 to jump to 0301. There is information stored on the card in order to prevent cameras from writing over the top of images already there. If you format the card first on your computer and then in-camera, the Camera 1 count will simply progress from 0101.

Ik kan hieruit concluderen dat de kaart die ze bij de winkel gebruikt hebben de oorzaak is van dit probleem. Gelukkig kan ik het nu wel weer aanpassen, maar dan moet ik even rekenen.

Vanwege klachten over de traagheid van mijn site en het feit dat de oorzaak lag aan het gebruikte template, is de site in een nieuw jasje gestoken. Deze zal nog wel wat meer naar mijn smaak aangepast moeten worden. Met deze template lijkt de site wel sneller te laden.

Because of the many complaints I received about the responsiveness of my site and the fact the problem seemed to be the template I was using, I installed a new template. Some minor modifications have to be made to fully suit my taste. With this template the site seems to load much faster.

Just the other day I was faced with a daunting task. In search of a nice template I found a pretty one which suited my needs just fine. It was free, had nice graphics and looked girlish. Only problem was: it was green. Normally green would be sweet but my instructions were clear: the main color had to be pink.

The graphics were easily transformed and then I was left with a stylesheet of about 800 lines containing various greenish hex-codes. These needed to be replaced by their pinkish counterpart. Let me just say it was not a task I was particularly looking forward too.

Insert Linux. Next to my Windows install I have an Ubuntu install for whenever I feel like playing around with Linux. At work I do a lot of scripting under HP-UX which is a Unix variant. So I was aware of the powerful Unix commands which might be helpful.

I whipped up a pretty regular expression for grep to extract all lines with hex-codes in them. I cleaned all unnecessary and was left with a list of 60 hex-codes. Then I proceded to find all the unique ones and after a while I was left with 20 unique colors.

After some trail and error I managed to get some nice pinkish colors to match the colorscheme I found in the original template. The last step consisted of a global replace of all the old hex-codes with the new ones and overall I’m pretty pleased with the results.

I doubt if I could have done it that fast without the use of the powerfull commandline utilities on Linux.

After some time of testing I pronounce the following addons for Pixelpost as being STABLE.

• GoogleMap addon
• FTP Permissions addon
• DB Management addon

Nothing has changed after the beta release (only a small bug was fixed with the GoogleMap addon, download the stable version if you had problems with the creation and updating of the database.) Get them from my Pixelpost Addon page.

I got three other addons currently in development: two Anti-SPAM addons (one already active on my blog) and a Flash Thumbnail Scroller addon (which is to be released pretty soon).
